Course Description

The ACLS/BLS Instructor-led course is a 1-day course that renews and refreshes the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, high-performance teams, early and continuous, high-quality CPR, systems of care, recognition, and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac arrest care, acute dysrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

What does this course teach?

  • Basic life support skills for Adult, child, and infant victims, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

ACLS/BLS is geared towards healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in managing cardiopulmonary arrest, other cardiovascular emergencies, or personnel in emergency response. Upon completing the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. 

Prerequisites

Participants must possess a current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) card and must be able to provide a copy of their current card if requested. 

  • Review Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED.
  • Review Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Review Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Review Airway management
  • Review Related pharmacology
  • Complete the precourse assessment test at ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment | AHA eLearning (heart.org) | Click “Launch This Course” and follow prompts | 70% or better is required

 

Students who successfully complete the ACLS/BLS Course  (including achieving a score of 84% or higher on the course exams) and the hands-on session will receive an ACLS Provider and BLS Provider course completion card (e-Card), valid for two years.
