Course Description

**This is a combination of ACLS and BLS courses. If you only need BLS, please register for a "Basic Life Support (CPR): Initial/Renewal" course.**

The course is for anyone attending ACLS for the first time or who does not have a current valid ACLS certification. The ACLS Blended Learning course is a combination of the ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment and Precourse Work with a 1-day Instructor-led classroom session that teaches the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, high-performance teams, early and continuous, high-quality CPR, systems of care, recognition, and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac arrest care, acute dysrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

What does this course teach?

  • Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest emergencies
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

ACLS is geared towards healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in managing cardiopulmonary arrest, other cardiovascular emergencies, or personnel in emergency response. Upon completing the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. 

Prerequisites

  • Review Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED.
  • Review Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Review Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Review Airway management
  • Review Related pharmacology
  • Complete the precourse assessment test and Precourse works. Pre-course self-assessment / Pre-course work Click “Launch This Course” and follow the prompts. You must receive at least 70%.

Students who successfully complete the ACLS Course (including achieving a score of 84% or higher on the course exam) and the hands-on session will receive an ACLS Provider course completion card (e-Card), valid for two years.

BLS
 
We will also provide all students with a BLS for Healthcare Providers card. BLS for healthcare providers is focused on the skill of CPR for victims of all ages and will practice CPR in a team setting. You will learn how to use an AED and how to relieve choking.
