Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor Course

Class Price: $350.00


The BLS Instructor Course is taught in a blended learning format. AHA BLS Instructor candidates must complete the online portion, followed by the hands-on session conducted by BLS Training Faculty. This course is designed to teach participants the fundamentals of teaching Basic Life Support to various audiences.  The program offers a two-year instructorship through the American Heart Association. Successful completion of this course allows the participant to teach CPR and offer AHA course completion cards to lay rescuers and health professionals. 

Prerequisites for BLS Instructor Course

Before taking this course, candidates must have a current course completion card in BLS issued by the American Heart Association. 

1. We recommend that you review the AHA BLS provider materials. The Instructor course will not teach you the course materials but how to teach the content to students with different learning styles. You are expected to have a strong provider knowledge of the Basic Life Support guidelines. 

2. Course registrants will be required to complete the BLS Provider exam in person at the training center at a designated date/time before your course date and achieve the minimum score set forth by the training center to attend the instructor course.

3. You will receive a BLS Instructor Manual that you will pick up from our training center. 

4. You will receive an email to complete the AHA BLS online Instructor Essentials. This will be your ticket into the BLS instructor-led portion of the course. 

5. Completing this instructor course does not mean you will be teaching as an employee of Cooper Center for Resuscitation Education & Community Engagement. Please visit https://atlas.heart.org. to locate a training center near you to ask if they are accepting new instructor candidates.
